Andy and Blake drove me to work today. On our way to the office I mentioned that I wanted a Starbucks before they dropped me off. My child went on to point out every Starbucks on the way in..."StarStar?" she would ask and point in the direction of one of the many Starbucks I frequent...Andy was thoroughly disgusted that our child knows where each and every Starbucks in our area is. I am glad I trained her oh-so-well.

Trying out new shoes on a nice day

Blake got these awesome shoes from Grandy and Bumpa (my parents) from christmas...actually, she got some pink ones that were way cute but a size too small (nines....yes, my two-year old wears size ten shoes). Andy and Blake went to the mall yesterday to exchange them for a size that will fit and they came back with these rockin shoes. We loves these shoes, especially when Blake wears them with her skinny jeans from Aunt Brie...then she really looks like a rock star!

My first run of the season: Not so good...

Yesterday was so beautiful. It was just one of those beautiful Colorado days...we woke up to 40 degree weather and it just got warmer as the day went on. The sky was so blue and I thought...this is a perfect day for my first run of the season. For the last two years, in March I have started running 3 miles - 3 or more times a week for as long as I can go before I injure myself for the rest of the summer. In 2006, I threw my back out in June. Last year, I was able to run until July when my knees started giving me major problems. Well, I really wanted run the Running O' The Green Lucky 7K in March this year so yesterday I went on my first run of the season. It felt so good to be back running...I never thought I would love running like I do, but I start to crave it. I ran for only a half mile when the failure pain in my knee came back...we had to stop and walk a bit...I tried to run again and it was still so painful. We ended up walking the 3 miles. I thought that it would feel better today, but I am still hurting. I went the to DR's (I hate going to the Dr's) and she told me she thinks I have patella tendonitis so now I will be going to my first physical therapy session on Thursday...not fun.
To top it all off...on Sunday I started playing with the idea of trying to do a marathon in late 2008. My adoption buddy, Melodie has really inspired me. I was looking into the 2008 Nike Woman's marathon in San Francisco...I love San Fran and I also love that it is a sea level...we'll see what happens...

Two of my favorite things...

With all the craziness that has been going on with our house, I decided to settle down with two of my favorite things for a while this afternoon...french vanilla ice cream and a good book.

Hello slightly neglected blog! Things have been a bit out of sorts lately as we have been trying to get the house ready to be appraised...we have been painting walls and cabinets and trim. That being said, I was without a kitchen all weekend and Andy and I survived mainly on gummy bears while Blake devoured cherrie-o's. We had a much needed break when we went to watch the Super Bowl with some friends...I really do not care for football, but it was rather nice to be away from all the craziness that comes with working on a house. On Sunday night, (around 8:30) Andy started tearing out our only bathroom in the house. We hadn't really planned out doing our bathroom yet, but last weekend we had to put our huskies in the bathroom while we were finishing a project...the completely tore up all the linoleum. We had purchased some really beautiful tiles months ago and were just waiting to have a moment to put it in. The tile has a mesh backing with all these tiny smooth blue stones glued on. Andy and I tiled our bathroom on Sunday night and grouted on Monday. Last night Andy put out toilet and our sink back in. It was very interesting being without a toilet. I had to call my mother in a panic yesterday to have her come pick us up so we could use her facilities...luckily she only lives a half mile away. We had also been without a shower since Sunday. Yesterday I found myself rocking a set of french braids...that style rarely comes out unless it is absolutely necessary. Last night Andy finished the bathroom while I did laundry...it is so nice to have working facilities.

I am off to work and then back home to finish getting ready for the appraisal!
